WP 2 – Risk Exposure Data

Problem to be tackled

It is difficult to compare road safety risk levels between the EU countries.

 

Main goal

To make the existing national Risk Exposure Data (RED) in the EU countries comparable.

 

Main method

  • To acquire a good knowledge of the current state-of-the-art of the methodologies and practices dealing with RED in European Community.
  • To obtain the gathering methods, definitions availability and comparability of RED in order to set-up a common framework including transformation rules if necessary.
  • To provide some recommendations and assistance.
  • To test the data processing and to assess the added value of the RED use with CARE.

Important subjects

To set up a European common framework for a set of RED to make comparable RED and levels of risk over subsets of EU countries

 

Current status

A questionnaire concerning gathering methods, definitions and comparability has been sent to the National Correspondents (deliverable 2.2.1). The analysis of the replies and the common framework setting-up are being processed.

 

Products so far

The deliverables D2.1.1 “State-of-the-art Report” D2.2.1 “RED Questionnaire” are completed.

 

Future plans

  • To carry out a mid-term report “Classification of the EU members States on RED”, (Deliverable D2.2.2,scheduled for December 2006).providing the assessment of the gapsand allowing to set-up a common RED framework
  • Guidelines and recommendations for comparable risk levels assessments over EU countries.
  • Pilot study which will consists in gathering RED and data processing with CARE accident data.
