Department of “Idraulica, Trasporti, Strade”, University of Rome (DITS) - ITALY

DITS is dedicated to education and research activities in transportation.

The education activity provides a wide number of courses and a specific degree in Transport Engineering. PhD’s and Masters degrees are also offered. The research programmes involve some 30 researchers, including established department staff, Ph.D. students and consultants. Research areas include transportation systems analysis, planning and operation, vehicle dynamics and road safety, logistics and intermodality. At international level, DITS has been involved in more than thirty projects under PROMETHEUS, DRIVE, EURET, APAS and, more recently, IV and V Framework Programmes. Safety issues have been addressed in several European (PRO-GEN, ROSEBUD, PORTAL) and national/local level research projects, within which a dedicated computer-based system for innovative road accident data collection, management and analysis has also been developed.
