Next European Road Safety Day: 13 October 2008

Where: Main Event in Paris (France), in "l'Espace Grande Arche".
(National Events to be organized by Member States)

Theme: "Road Safety in Our Cities"

3 main sessions:

1. What are the state of the art and the main issues to be dealt with amongst the different users in cities:  car drivers, lorry and bus drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists, pedestrians (children, elderly, disabled people, etc…)
2. A better design of the cities can help in improving all users to live together safely: by enhancing infrastructure safety management, by installing safety equipments, specific road signs, etc…
3. How education, good campaigning, prevention and enforcement can increase the understanding between users?

Vice-President of the European Commission Jacques Barrot, Commissioner in charge of Transport, will make the Key-Note Speech.
